Family Activities in Den Haag: Madurodam

In my post on Den Haag, I mentioned that one of the highlights of my trip was to Madurodam, and that I took so my pictures and videos, it needed its own post. So here it is.

Madurodam was one of those places that I wasn’t sure was worth my time, but I’m glad I went. Madurodam is an outdoor, family-friendly activity in Den Haag with lots of interactive exhibits and hands-on learning activities, all of which were available in English. Admission is included in the Gold Holland Pass. The ticket offices gives visitors a card, and the card can be used to activate videos and other things throughout the park that are informative and highly entertaining. For example, I learned why the Dutch national soccer team is called “Oranje” even though their flag is red, white, and blue (The King is from the House of Orange). Also, according to the same video which was featured a German claymation character, the Dutch always prevail over the Germans in soccer… which is not quite accurate, but still very funny.

It’s hard to accurately capture what this place was like, so I took a lot of pictures and few videos to capture the spirit of this place. It’s just the Netherlands… in miniature.

And here’s the Roller Coaster from the amusement park!

And it just wouldn’t be mini-Holland without some mini-clogs:

I’m glad that I finally made the trip to The Hague, and I really enjoyed my day at Madurodam. If you’re looking for family-friendly activities in Den Haag, Madurodam should be at the top of your list! As a single woman, I certainly I didn’t need to visit, but I actually learned a lot from the exhibit.

And when you’re as short as I am, it’s nice to walk around somewhere and feel like a giant.
